At
the age of three, Carolyn Sutton snuggled into a big Coleman sleeping
bag in the campground at the Great Sand Dunes National Monument.
Looking up, she found herself face to face with the Milky Way in party
mode. Her family was camping out during the annual Perseid meteor
shower, and Carolyn still hasn't recovered from the experience.
Together
with her mom, dad, and big sister, she went on to visit nearly all of
Colorado's national parks. Today she loves hiking, alpine and
cross-country skiing, and camping with her husband and kids all across
the state.
A Colorado native, she received her bachelor's
degree and diploma in education from the University of Colorado at
Boulder. Later, she taught junior high and high school science and
eventually went into business. Now she is a mom and travel writer,
scribbling about her family's travel adventures.
Carolyn's work has been published in Sunset, Frontier, Camping Life, and Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel among other magazines. Her first book, The Preschooler's Guide to Denver - Best Outings for Kids Under 6 Years Old
received abundant praise from the media and moms alike. It placed in
the top 2% of Amazon.com rankings the summer it was released.
Her current guidebook, The Family Guide to Colorado's National Parks and Monuments is available in bookstores and from WestcliffePublishers.com.
